Restoring Women's Hearts

Focuses on: Breaking Free of the Cycle of Destructive Relationships

We encourage women who have been trapped in a cycle of destructive or oppressive relationships to join us as we recognize that past hurts and abuse have caused us to cope in unhealthy ways. Since codependency is an addiction to behaviors and emotions just as alcoholism and drug addiction are addictions to substances, this recovery program focuses on women's specific needs and struggles when it comes to relating to others in a healthy way.

It is the goal of this discussion group to not only share information about desctructive relationships, but to encourage participants to do the work of recovery. We will investigate and discuss a different aspect of unhealthy relationships each week. We seek to rely on the unchanging strength and love of God through scripture as we practice changing our relational behaviors.

This discussion group's readings are drawn from the following texts:

Untangling Relationships - A Christian Perspective on Codependency by Pat Springle.
Because of limited discussion time, the readings will only highlight the main points of the workbook.

Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

The Search for Significance by Robert S. McGee.

How to Stop the Pain by Dr. James B. Richards
